Integration API with external correspondents for international wire transfer management
Leading bank in Ecuador
The challenge
The bank managed international wire transfer operations through manual processes and point-to-point connections with international correspondents, without a standardized integration layer. This approach generated operational risks, made it difficult to onboard new correspondents, limited real-time transactional traceability, and did not meet the security and audit requirements demanded by local and international financial regulators. Each integration was ad hoc, which increased the time and cost of onboarding new correspondent partners.
The solution
We developed a 100% serverless integration platform on AWS, using a microservices architecture designed to meet the transactional, security, and traceability requirements of the financial business. Each external correspondent connects through decoupled adapters, allowing new partners to be onboarded without affecting the core system. We implemented end-to-end encryption with AWS KMS, centralized credential management with AWS Secrets Manager, and full transaction auditing with CloudTrail and CloudWatch Logs. API Gateway serves as the sole entry surface, with mutual authentication and granular access control per correspondent.
